Heater hoses

Heater hoses
1994 F-150 4x4 300 six
I changed my heater hoses today .......guess what ?
I took them both off because I knew how they went back on.
The phone rang ........................ and I forgot which one was which.
So Ive tryed them both ways and it doesnt seem to matter, but if I remember correctly it does matter?
Can some one look ast theres and tell me if the hose coming from the thermostat goes on the top or the bottom on the firewall?

On mine, the one coming off the thermostat housing going to the inside heater is 3/4" and the one coming off the water pump going to the outside is 5/8". Just changed them a couple week ago and couldn't get the outside one to stop leaking. Finally I checked the old ones and found out they were different. So swapped the outside one with a 5/8" hose, which went on with no problem, and no more leaks.
