Proper break in.procedure

Hopefully i can get my motor put in within the next week or two and was wondering how i should break it in? I generally run all 15-40 in all my diesel motors so would that be fine or do i need special breakin oil?
Next do i drive my truck just like i normally do or do i take it easy or give it all i can within reason? How long before i change oil?

Btw it has new pistons, rings, bored and all new bearings. Pretty well full rebuild.

I have heard both ways on it, did you oil the parts before you got it put together? If you did I would throw 15-40 in like normal and drive it like you stole it....those parts need to seat together and make their seals come together. Engine parts wear with each other which means you should get them seated and sealed right away or your performance will suffer...

Change the oil(this is what I do) @ 1000-2000 miles, then do it again at 1500-2500 after your initial change...

Why would anyone use a 20 over sleeve though, unless they just sleeved one hole.

Whether gas or diesel engine, I've always run the vehicle from day one like I plan to use it. New engine, throw a load on and take a run over Parley's canyon and back. Parley's on the west side is about 15 miles up with a couple of 6-7% grades up to 3 miles each. The east side is only about 4 miles. It's also all freeway.

A few trips back and forth over that will soon show any weak areas.

I put a new engine in my semi, loaded up 51,000 lbs and into Canada working the engine fairly hard. Just keep an eye on temperature and oil pressure.

Mine is bored .030 and no sleeves........thats right no sleeves. All my parts were oiled when installed so ill fill her up and hear it roar in a weak or two.

I took this approach.....i have heard nothing good about sleeves in a motor that was sleeveless so we (shop and i) figured there is less of a chance of things going wrong with just boring it. The 1 thing we kept in mind is i will NEVER turbo this motor.

PLEASE NO NEGETIVE REPLYS ABOUT ME BORING .030 AND NO SLEEVES, I HAVE TO THINK POSITIVE FOR THE NEXT 200K. I will let you guys know if i go to having problems with it.
