This moring when letting the truck warm up before leaving work(temp about 25 degrees) small leak developed on the back side of engine dripping off the bell housing. 1st thought it was fuel(drain valve o rings again) but after getting home to investigate determind it was coolant. heres the kicker, no leak. Let it run a bit no leak. let it sit and cool off(temp in the low 50's now) the started but still no leak. The radom leak came somewhere from the driver side rear towards the top. I can see where it has dripped on driver side exhaust up pipe. Things i've checked.

I had a pinhole leak in my radiator that I could only find by pressurizing the entire system with the truck off. Don't know if you have a kit, but a general mechanic would.
There is 3 plugs and the back side of the head. One being a freeze plug and 2 others not sure what they are. Think one is for the fuel rail but thats just a guess.
Sometimes the symptoms you describe occur when the water pump seal starts to go bad. That is, it will leak overnight when the engine is cool and sitting...but won't leak when the engine is hot. I guess it has to do with the metal around the seal swelling a bit, not sure. Something to think about though.
The leak started while the truck was warming up and coming from the back side of the engine. After a bit leak stopped and haven't been able to get it to leak which is good I guess but would like to know where it came from.
On the commercial side they call these "cold leaks" and don't worry about them. My DD Series 60 would lose close to a gallon a weak sitting in the winter. Not a drop any other time.
