looks as though, you dont have it mounted while enroute. With that said, it seems to be a cheaper route, to hit up a metal yard, get a .120 2in remnant of 3ft and drill a hole in it, and install it, into the hitch itself?

looks very easy to build with a welder, drill and some metal. i would think you could build it for less than 20 bucks...i can build you one for 129.00...

seriously...know anyone with a welder and some minor skills?

I think it is very neat. But I'm easy to sell! Did you watch the vid? I'm impressed. I don't know how much it is but yes, it could easily be duplicated. But for the guy with just a truck wanting a way to get in his bed easier than climbing or jumping in and out the bed, this would be great!

I know its kinda hard to see but this is what I made for my truck, it has a lot of different jobs, I made it very versital. I have gussits that are 1/2 thick both front and back and the 2 you see on the sides, I put a hole in the obvious one and put a shackle in there when I need to pull someone out. I set it up at 20'' off the ground because I dont want any little car sliding under my truck when theres snow and ice on the ground. Its a good step so I can get into the truck easy because my tailgate is almost 4' off the ground when opened. And my favorite one......... its also a nice seat when it needs to be lol

Ill build you one for 229.... lol It took about 6 hours to make and cost my company about $50 in steel

I see them stepping up in the bed easily enough but I would bet you 10 bucks I would bust my @ss stepping down with anything in my hands and miss the little step. The video states that it is “slip proof” but put a little snow or ice on it and it might be a quick trip to the hospital unless you step just right on it. The application may also be limited if you have an aftermarket fuel cell under the truck. It would appear that the metal bar extends under the truck at least three feet or so. This is one of those items that look promising but until you see one in person, you won’t really know if it’s worth the money. The nice thing about the 08 up tailgate is that you have a place to hold onto when you step in and out of the bed. Like others have said, you might be able to make your own for much less but sometimes it’s easier to just get it delivered and be done with it.

Does the 08s + tailgates have any noticeable differences in the contours than the original? ie. can you tell it doesn't belong on the bed?

Not sure about that one but I put the Amp Research bedstep on my truck and love it. You just step on it to let it down or kick it to get it to fold back up when your not using it. The no hands operation comes in handy when your hands are full. It works with the tailgate up or down too. I ordered mine on Amazon and took advantage of no tax and free shipping.

No differences in the contours of the '08 up tailgate.

as long as it is painted to match the rest of the truck it looks like it came on it.

You just made my day! Bottom of mine is beginning to rust out along the seam. Been wanting that pull out step.

Here is a pic of my setup (amp research bedstep) on my 2002 F350. It also shows how the 2008-2011 tailgate looks on the older Super Duties.
