4X4 --> ESOF

hi everyone

today I need help with the 4x4 on my truck.

How can I check out if he had "shift on fly" or not ?
or can every truck with 4x4 "shift on fly" ?

How works "shift on fly" (how many mph) ?

my truck is a 1999 F250 SD 4x4

thanks

Trucks with ESOF have the **** on the dash and typically "auto" written on the hubs instead of "lock". You can shift into 4hi at speeds up to 45ish IIRC. Trucks that have a shifter on the floor can only shift on the fly when both hubs are in the locked position, and in theory, can be put in 4hi at any speed.

hi thanks...

I have the **** on the Dash, but I've locked my hubs because the vacuum hoses have a leakage. And that says that I can shift in 4Hi at speeds up to 45 mph ?
That's great I thought I can only shift in 4Hi if the Transmission is in neutral ...

thanks

You can only shift into 4Lo if the truck is in neutral.

If you have your hubs locked already you can shift into 4Hi at any speed.

If the hubs are not already locked in and you engage them the front axle must be brought up to the speed of the vehicle. Does that make sense to you?
