"OVERHEATING" 390

I have replaced the therm. the temp gauge is still reading hot. while driving home engine died and did not start. no anti freeze from water pump like its a bad pump......... confused please help.

You didn't happen to put the thermostat in backwards did you? The sensing bulb should be towards the intake manifold. Sounds like it's not opening.

Check and make sure the radiator's fins aren't clogged with leaves or other misc. road debris.
Check the lower radiator hose and make sure it's not collapsing.
Another "invisible" problem could be an erroded impeller in the water pump.
Also, it might be time to pull the radiator and get it cleaned.

I am new at this so bear with me will that be the spring side towards engine correct? Thats what i have been told. so i put it in that way.

mikeooooo thanks that will be the next step i will follow up on with radiator, and the hoses

Sounds right, in the picture the spring side goes towards the engine
