Water pump issues?

Ok fellars, my inline has 265,134 miles, and the temperature hand takes spells that it will go from the N to the R on NORMAL.... And I would like to go ahead and replace the pump, is there any kind of "heavy duty" pump or a high volume type pump to replace my wornout factory pump....

Is the water pump leaking? If not, it might be OK.

When my 1984 F250 4x4 with 300 CID engine started having temp fluctuations, it needed a good radiator clean out. I used one of those commercial chemical flush solutions followed by plenty of flush water. I had some temp fluctuations afterwards but that was just air in the system. It eventually collects at the upper radiator hose and can be hand-squeezed into the radiator to remove it.

As to a heavy duty water pump for these engines... nope, never saw one or much need for one.

I did have a '78 F150 once that had a bad radiator. I took it to a rad shop, they checked it out, and decided that the radiator was shot. They didn't have one for that engine but they did have one for a 351 for the same price. I had them put it in and that truck ran nice and cool ever after. I don't remember for sure but it seemed bigger and thicker than the dinky 300 6-cyl. radiator. Might have been a 3-core, not sure. What it was, though, was danged effective.

Well, seeing as I have a new radiator, fan clutch, upper & lower hoses, thermostat.....Just seems the waterpump is the weak link

It probably is, given that just about everything else in the cooling system is new. The good news is that replacing a water pump on a 300 CID engine is neither difficult nor expensive.
