102" CB antenna mount question....

I have a nice Steel whip that has the ball with mount plate, and spring and want to know a good spot to mount it. I have a 77 Highboy longbed and was thinking of back on the bumper or somewhere on the front of the bed, but I also have a bed cover on it. Any pics of mounted steel whips would be appreciated.

The rear bumper is the only practical/logical mounting location with a 8.5 foot whip, anywhere else would look pretty ridiculous, with 4 foot whips your mounting options are more open.

Back in the day (the '70's when they were popular) trucks would mount them on a 90 degree angle, low in the quarter panel in between the rear tire and rear bumper. A whip tie down was placed at the front of the bed for when you went through a parking garage or drive through.
