I recently picked up a manual shift BW1356 from a 87 Bronco to put into my 93 behind the E4OD. I wasn't able to get the linkage with it and no one else in my area had it. Another user on here was able to find it for me in another state. It is the 92-97 style for use behind an E4OD. It has everything except for the connecting rod that goes from the shifter assembly back to the transfercase lever. I'm sure I can hunt one of these down, but Ford changed the design of the control lever on the transfercase. Mine has a solid (not tapered) cylinder that the linkage attatches to and the 92-97 linkage has a metal "nipple" that the grommet pops over. I have heard that the only differences in the connecting rod is what bushings are installed in it is this true?
Options as I see it:
1. Find a 87-91 connecting rod for an E4OD (rare?) (F0TZ-7B051-E ?)
2. Get a 92-97 connecting rod (F2TZ-7B051-E) and change out the bushing at the transfercase end to the 87-91 style (7341) vs (7535)
3. Use the 92-97 connecting rod and switch out the connection stud on the transfercase control arm to the 92-97 style "nipple" (they appear to be pressed in).
4. Change out the transfercase control arm to the 92-97 style with the nipple allready on it (F2TZ-7B106-A) (not my first choice as I believe I would have to tear the entire case back apart)
5. Build something - Not my first choice either, as I spent alot of time while rebuilding the case polishing, grinding, shimming, and adjusting the internal linkage to make sure it shifts perfectly. I don't want to undermine al that work by using external linkage that has "play" or "slop" in it.
Mounting stud on my current transfercase control arm (87-91 style with square bore shift shaft and retaining nut)
A picture of a 92-97 transfercase control arm with the "nipple" style connection. (ignore the busted part)
Picture of the 92-97 linkage with the rear connecting rod bushing uninstalled. Perhaps I could install the 87-91 (larger) bushing in here to fit onto my early style transfercase control rod?

Reason: better pic
Is that the connecting rod you are reffering to? I have never been able to figure out why some have the different stud on the case actuator. I'll send you a PM in a minute.
