AT shift linkage

AT shift linkage
I have a 78 F150 4X4 which I recently purchased.
The transmission plate has
PJA AJ11 J25
EOTP LA 020348
on it. The shifter is extremely loose and upon inspection of the linkage I found the control rod was attached with bailing wire. I think the transmission is not original. I didn't know if this has anything to do with the problem, so I listed the code.
Is there somewhere I can find replacement parts online or maybe aftermarket replacement linkage?
I am a newbie when it comes to working on ford trucks so any feedback will be appreciated.

Yes, A/T.
It might take a little while to get pic. I found the diagram you posted on autozone.com. Mine truck has the shift rod attached to a bell rod assemby and then the control rod and finally to the transmission.
