I replaced most all of my steering components by now, and just did the red head steering box. It is MUCH better than it ever has been, but I would still like to make it better.
I was thinking that if the truck had a longer pitman arm on it then there would have to be less play/wonder in the steering, right? But I don't know if anyone makes one or how to even search for one, I wrote to Moog about it.
That would just make the steering twitchy.
The suspension will run out of travel before the steering box would run out of gear.
I think you might regret it.
Dan what do you mean that the suspension will run out of travel? I am not lifting the truck. I do agree that it will make the steering more twitchy but if I have play in the steering still wouldnt the twitch=the play and therefore eliminate the play?
Maybe this was a stupid idea, just thought I'd ask though
I thought I remember reading the early trucks came with a longer pitman arm. Ford shortened it because there were too many complaints about not being able to turn the wheels when the truck was sitting still.
