ok lets see if this tells anybody anything. the truck is an o3 with 227k on it. injectors and ficm was changed at 180k. truck starts up but wont rev over 1200 rpms. checked icp and ipr. truck is at 700psi at the icp and 31% ipr at idle. take throttle to 1200rpms and icp goes to 560 and ipr goes to 85%. does this mean there is a major oil leak and or hpop took a dump? truck was fine then all of the sudden it went to crap. also i stuck a new egr in cause i had one laying around. and old one was open a little and looked like crap. i do get a code of icp low. any help would be great. i know the 7.3 good but new to the 6.0. any help would be great. willing to try anything just would like an idea where to start. thanks for any help. and i do have a scan tool. i have a telstar tester. also once you step on throttle when icp is at 560 when you let off gas icp goes to approx. 1300 before returning to about 700psi. engine is cool while im doing this also. after it runs awhile then shut it off it is an act of god to get started again once it starts warming up. i guess cause the oil is thinning out.
you probably have a snap to fitting internal o-ring letting go or the seal in the pump is failing.when cold the oil is thick enogh to overcome the leak. when hot it thins out and the pump cant build the required pressure.i air test my pumps by blocking off the oil feed hole and shot shop air to the pump and find the leak.probably gonna be the pump and supply tube.good luck
ok i got to the pump and put air in top where ipr goes and no leaks at 175psi. any ideas? or am i even checking it right?
03 truck right? ICP and IPR should both be under the turbo. If you are performing the test with the HPOP cover on, the air should be applied at the ICP location and the IPR should be commanded closed with a 12v connection (30 seconds or so). If the HPOP cover is off, you can apply the air to the top of the pump where the branch tube connection is made. While I was that far into the engine, I went ahead and bought the HPOP seal kit 3C3Z-9G804-AA. This kit contains two orings for the top and bottom of the HPOP and a "D" ring for the tube that pushes up into the cover and sends oil to the ICP/IPR. I think I had a leak at the D ring location. My truck is still not running either. Now I have a hot no restart condition to contend with.
yeah its an 03. i took cover off and did put air in where you stated.. might know the first one i choose to help with is a p.i.t.a.. thanks for the number cause i will change the rings while im that far.
nope no recent work. im down to either its the suction side off hpop or the pump itself. going to order pump and see what happens. done air checked everything i can and all is good.

If it was the HPOP I would think when you put shop air to it the air would have bubbled up thru the oil filter
the pump does have some end play in it. not sure exact amount but i think it should have very little or none. i looked at ipr but dont really know what im looking for. the screen is a little caved in if that tells you anything. oh and when i put air in the top of pump i dont hear air any where.
