You could always swap to the 92+ front clip. Options are really scarce for the 87-91 years, but you can always try Ebay. Just make sure whatever you get is DOT approved, as that means they have some semblance of quality in production.
Scarce or not available? I have yet to find a single headlight (not corner lens) for the bricknose trucks other than stock replacements.

Well as long as the french are doing it... (un-capitalized on purpose)

FWIW Silverstar ultra's are the best headlights i've ever had before, well worth every penny spent.

I think the OP was talking about headlight housings though, not bulbs to improve light output. The bricknose trucks have no lack of output, I laugh whenever I read a thread complaining about it. If you think your bricknose isn't showing you enough road at night borrow a buddy's 1994-2001 Dodge Ram for a week and try not to hit something.

I personally have never owned an 87-91. But I look at parts alot, and I have never seen any aftermarket headlights for that bodystyle. I was pretty much referring to any exterior front end options at all are scarce for the 87-91.

On a side note, you can get an upgraded wire harness that will boost the voltage going to the lamps. Which makes them brighter.

All bulbs were clear, relying on the amber lenses for color. I always assumed the advent of amber-colored bulbs was introduced as a way to get amber turn signals into older cars in the front parking lights.

I look at clear turn signal lenses with amber bulbs as a step backward to the "old days." Not to mention being an added inventory item for bulb manufacturers and retailers. I always thought of amber lenses as a bit of added (attractive) color and class to cars.
I can kinda see what your getting at. This is not entirely true though. Our 97 Mustang uses amber bulbs from the factory. So do fox body Mustangs and alot of other 90s and newer cars.

I think that it can go either way. Sometimes I kinda want to put my amber lenses back on.

The other afermarket lights a d tail lights I can't stand.

That headlight relay kit is great. We have it on 3 vehicles.

Silverstar bulbs and all other artificially colored super white bulbs are complete junk.

The best bulbs are GE Nighthawk, Sylvania Xtravision, and other increased brightness clear bulbs. The color may not be as white, but there is actually more light output since none of it is filtered out.
