2008 F250 no rear sway bar?

I think the claim is they can cause problems when off-road. I wonder if any has broken one and if it just costs you 100$sway bar or would damage other components?
I have truble with my no sway bar 2010 on a local 65mph road traffic moves at 70+ but i dont feel comfortable even at 65 on some of the turns! I wonder how much the swaybar would help... The 2011 does fine at the same speed/road

I've posted about this before but can't find it.
It's difficult to describe just how much better the truck handles with the hellwig. I spend a lot of time in northwestern IL, nothing but hills and good quality twisties...many posted at 35 and 40 mph. I can safely fling the truck into these curves at 65 and 70 mph and it stays dead flat, no sway, no body lean. If you've ever driven an old school Gen 2 or 3 Camaro Z or Firebird T/A it feels about the same. Inspires a lot of confidence and is markedly safer. All 4 corners of the truck have measurable function in cornering. Granted, I upgraded the shocks, stabilizer and tires over stock but it functions quite well together.
If I took those corners with the truck as stock, it felt like it was folding over on itself at 40mph and the lean/sway lifted you out of the seat.
You would not be disappointed in upgrading to a sway bar.

It sounds like your buddy got the stabilizer package:
Camper Package (F-250/F-350) (471)
Designed and engineered for pickup trucks utilizing a slide-in
camper in the cargo box. Includes:
• Heavy service front springs — 2 up with 4x2/1 up with 4x4
(1 up or 2 up spring upgrade over the spring computerselected
as standard; not applicable if maximum spring
rating is computer-selected as standard equipment)
• Rear stabilizer bar (SRW)
• Auxiliary rear springs (F-250)
• Slide-in camper certification
• Not available with 20-inch wheels and tires, Pickup Box
Delete (66D), Heavy Service Suspension Package (67H)
or Stabilizer Package (63B)
Stabilizer Package (63B)
Designed for all SRW models that will frequently be heavily
loaded and towing. Includes:
• Heavy service front springs — 1 up
(1 up spring upgrade over the spring computer-selected
as standard; not applicable if maximum spring rating is
computer-selected as standard equipment)
• Rear stabilizer bar
• Not available with Heavy Service Suspension Package
(67H) or Camper Package (471)
The easiest way to tell would be to get his VIN number and run his window sticker or just look at it if he's still got it.
All in all though, I'd say going with the Hellwig would be your best bet. I've been looking into this myself and am torn between the factory stabilizer and the Hellwig.

Yes swaybars are not good for more severe off roading as the axles can't articulate as much with it connected. However this is for very aggressive stuff and not the normal hit the mud or light off roading. Considering these trucks are over 20 ft long and weigh over 8000lbs I doubt many of us will ever miss the rock crawling capabilities. Once I get it installed I will post back.

Unsolicited advice.....Loosely bolt the end links to the bar, same for the u bolts/bushings at the rear axle housing. Hold it up in place and it all makes sense including using the factory detents in the casting and factory frame holes for the end links. Trust me when I tell you Hellwigs installation instructions are useless. Don't forget to double nut the u bolts.
