Hi Everyone thanks in advanced. ABS Problems, Long story short I hope. Had new disk rotors press on my hubs and that when it started. On 1st test drive fled a shudder and brake pedal problem heard noise from brakes and no ABS light or codes. Check everything under the sun and came to conclusion that it was the reluctor ring. Found a article on the net that describe the same thing I fled. Had the shop re-press reluctor ring again making sure it was on right. No evident of damage on ring I think. Re installed hub and this time a different feeling. The brake pedal when down further than it should heard a sound from brake and a ABS light came on. Drove the truck and the brakes work great but still had that light. Try to pull the codes and there were none. The strange part, when you 1st start and drive the truck there is no light until you hit the brakes you feel the pedal go down and hear a sound and then the light comes on. Drives find after that just have the light. It clears itself until you drive it and then hit the brakes. What do I look for? Is the reluctor ring toast or is the sensor bad? Thanks Gene
Thanks for replying. I bleed did the brakes, but I didn't do any maintance to the rear. It's just kind of strange that it happen when I change out the rotors and it was fine before with the old rotors. Oh and also when I had them re press the ring cause I thought it wasn't on even and when I re assemble it, it acted differant after that. Thanks Gene
Just to let everyone know I found the problem with my ABS system. I found an article on the internet that talk about just what I had wrong. There is an air gap between the ABS sensor ring and the ABS sensor itself. If it is too great you will have problems. I took all the dimension I needed and made adjustments to the ring itself. Problem solved. If some anyone need this info I can provide a copy and maybe the link too. Thanks to all who help me on this matter. fficeffice" /><O></O>
I dont understand why an air gap would make the pedal go down further and make a noise. Maybe the sensor contacted the hub? Maybe that's why the airgap was too great. I didn't know there was an adjustment available on the sensors. Last time i removed mine, it just goes back in the hole and got tightened down.
