I am at work and just swapped out my power steering pump. I was going to flush out my system while i was here. My wife was kind enough to run to the store since i cant leave the station and get me fluid. But she didnt listen all the way and brought me back Valvoline ATF+4 Full Synthetic. The back says it it for chrysler vechicles. Since I am not putting it in a tranny do you guys think it would be okay for a power steering pump? Or do i need to wait?
The difference will be in the friction modifiers, but since you don't have any clutch packs in either your power steering or hydroboost systems, and are using it strictly as hydraulic fluid, it'll probably be fine. I've heard of folks using Type F as well.
I think I would wait on the most-correct thing, but that's just me.
Today's vehicles are sometimes kinda' finicky about what they want to drink, and there are consequences sometimes for using the wrong stuff. Honda's Power Steering Fluid would be a good example.
