my truck started fine at 5 am, not plugged in, and cold out, 5 hours later after coming out of the woods, it cranked, but would not start.
I changed the cps, it seemed the tach wasn't moving, maybe the batteries were just too run down, I charged it overnight and plugged the block heater in, still no start,
While cranking
it now registers 2-300 rpms
30+psi fuel at the shrader
2700psi hpop
with a snap on scanner I got codes in the history ( but no cel)
P1293 high side open bank #1 right
p1294 high side open bank #2 left >What does this mean?
p1280 icp circuit out of range low ( i had unplugged it to see if it would start)
p0344 cam position sensor circuit intermittent
p0340 cam position sensor circuit fault
i tool the whole engine harness off. i found by the main plug by the fuse box / airfilter that there was some wires with the insulation worn off.
Dark green, i believe goes to the cps
light green and maybe blue, i forgot, but i fixed all that, put the harnes back in, still no start.
i did not take the vc off, but w the snap on scanner i did an injector buzz test, and they all buzzed, so im assuming the wires/pins are not burnt, plus i recently had the vc off and replaced the vcg and pins in august
fuse 5 under hood was blown, replaced that, i think thats trailer bat though
and i swapped the 4 relays in the fuse box.
i also swapped an IDM out of a running psd, nothing
sorry, a lot to read but Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Corey
another thing, it doesnt smoke at all, i can smell diesel in the air a little bit, but usually its real cold, or i just dont let the gp cycle long enough it always will leave a cloud of white smoke, i can crank for 30 seconds and get nothing. also the first thing i tried was removing the chip, which is still out.
Too many codes, can you clear them and do the buzz test again?
P1293 and P1294 indicates an open wire(s) from the IDM to the injectors. Since you indicated the buzz test worked they might be old codes. During a buzz test the IDM will report any stored codes to the PCM.
All your measured values ... fuel pressure, ICP and rpm indicate the truck should start but it's not so knowing if codes P1293 and P1294 come back would be helpful. If they do you can start on some resistance checks. You can find them in this link under "Injector Drive Circuit Operation" ...
all those codes were stored, cleared em and none came back during cranking or the buz test, and I do have a WTS light.
I have the rebuild oring kit for the IPR i never got around to putting in, but do you think it would be stuck with the hpop pressure the scanner read, should be more than plenty to fire.
I'l re run that test and maybe do those resistance checks, thats a handy link,
i cleared the codes, redid the buz test, got a p1111, which means it passed. aslo cranked it over a bit again, and no returning codes in the memory. i did clear the codes in the history the other day, but before i cleared them again today, there was p0344 (cam position sensor circuit intermittent) I have an engine harness off a 94.5, same truck i borrowed the idm from, i think i might throw that in to make sure there is no issues with my harness, just to rule it out.
i never thought about looking at the DC, il check tomorrow. I plugged the icp sensor back in after it didnt make a difference while trying to start it a few times. the icp reading should be good.
local IH dealer was on back order, i bought 2 parts store cps just to make sure i didnt get a bad one out of the box. to have 3 bad in a row would be some bad luck lol, i am getting rpms though so...
