We just bought (3 days ago) a 94 F350 Crew Cab Lariat and the rear drivers side door wont unlock with the power locks and is difficult to lock / unclok manual. I pulled off the panel tried to lubricate but didn't help much. Also I don't think the power lock is hooked up becuase no movement at all when you hit the button. Any ideas and how to loosen up and how to fix the power lock? Thanks a bunch!
I guess the Junk Yard is a good idea since I just checked RockAuto.com and they want $78.79 for a front door actuator but the rear door is a wallet-busting $247.79! I have the same problem on my '95 rear door.
Looks like the crewcab rear door lock actuators have a different connector and longer hook than what's used for the front doors. You have to wonder why the door designer wouldn't just make an off-the-shelf front door actuator work in there instead.
Thanks for the info from PartsGuyEd.com, Bill.
Thanks to all the responses I really appreciate it.
Where is the actuator located? Is it connected to the latch mechanism? if it is bad would it make it difficult to unlock the door manually or is something else causing that?
Thanks again for all your help. Very impressive!!!
I know I have used taurus, Crown vic, escort, van and some other actuators over the years and they were all a plug and play. No mods necessary. I was actually surprised, being ford like to change this so much(just like the crewcab rear door ones)
Oh man my 90 rear Crew Cab rear doors are doing the same thing- but 250!!!! I need to hit the junk yard soon unless there's a better option. You guys come up with anything yet?
Mine has been inoperable for the past couple years so I'm not in any hurry to spend the $300 buying the actuator. I think I'm going to need to spend it on replacing my rusty radiator support this spring instead ($800). I just replaced the rear fuel tank recently, plus parts for the spare tire holder, glow plug relay, serpentine belt, and all the filters so I need to give my wallet a little rest.
