My sppedometer has quit working. This problem has been coming for a while now. It used to stop, then I'd pull over to a complete stop and pull back out and it would start back up again. Now it doesn't start hardly ever. I was on a 400 mile trip the other day and it started working about 100 miles in, then when I came to a stop it quit again. I changed the vss on the rear before, flushed out the fluid in the rear, still no help. Speed Ring gear wore out? Thoughts? Hope y'all had a great Thanksgiving today!!
There is also another sensor on the output of the transmission, that could also be the problem. Do you have any way of getting someone with AE to hook-up to your rig? That would be an easy way to check it out.
Look at this picture, there are two sensors with red caps on them, the forward one is the input speed sensor, the other is the output, they are the same sensor.

Here is the parts diagram showing them.
Ken,
I think those two sensors are the same part number except for automatics with PTO abilities. Then the forward sensor is a different length. The diagram you posted shows the length of the input sensor depending on the version you have.
