Ex wandering

I just purchased a used 2004 ex 79k on it all stock. I have two questions. The first one is it wanders back and forth while driving down the road. I checked pressures and adjusted to specs and it seemed to help but it still does it. The second is i noticed some black soot around turbo connections, is this normal? The good thing is i purchased an almost bumper to bumper extened warranty on the vehicle.

Thanks

Congrats on the new truck!

When you say the "turbo connections" are you referring to the exhaust or the up-pipes?

The wandering can be cured by swapping in Super duty springs. They ride stiffer and support the truck better than the stock, soft Excursion springs.

Thanks.

The black soot is near the rubber boots. I believe it's the up pipes. I can check tonight to make sure.

I will look into getting the stiffer shocks.

Thanks for your help!!!

In that case, just grab the proper socket and tighten them. Over time they get loose and leak cuasing low boost pressures and low fuel economy.

Wandering could also be cause by a loose steering box. Use the search function to find existing threads.

No, not stiffer shocks. Stiffer springs. With that out of the way the biggest fix for getting rid of the wandering is the installation of a rear sway bar (on the axle). Mine wandered so much I almost traded it after I bought it, it was that bad! Then I found this site and the wandering issues everyone had. I installed a Hellwig rear sway bar and that cured my wandering.

Good luck!
