Well went to the junkyard last week and they had a crew cab there. Only the cab and frame. Also the rear doors were missing. Would it be a good idea to put a 2 wheel drive front end with Cummins 12v/ Zf Trans. Would probably do a 6 inch lift or whatever 76Hauler has on his truck. Would be getting a parts truck for front clip, bed, dash, and rear. Could I get away with a 9 inch or go straight to d60 would be only putting 35's on it? This will be a pavement queen if i decide to do it. Tell me your thoughts and opinions. I'm sure i'm missing important facts just ask and I'll answer.
Putting a cummins in a 2wd would require cutting the oil pan to move it up, or converting the truck to front steer as the steering linkage behind the front wheels causes issues with the cummins oil pan.
As for the lift - 76Hauler has a 4" autofab lift on his truck.
Now for the 9" - depends on which one and how much power you put through the motor. A 28 spline 9" would probably be a bit weak. Now a 31 spline one can last if you don't flog the thing on have a ton of hp/torque in your motor. If you went to 35 spline axles then you'd be able to handle a bunch more power, but that just takes $...
