Hi Guys
I need to replace my front hub assemblies on my 1999 F250 5.4 4x4. There are a lot of options for replacement but here is my problem- truck was manufactured in 01/99 making it a "1ST EDITION". The hub flanges are different thicknesses (10 mm vs 13mm) and will not work with newer rotor/brake parts. Is there a conversion kit that can ne purchased? Is there a easy way to tell if it has already been modified? I need to replace the hubs for winter because I am worried about losing 4 wheel drive. Also should I replace my tie rod ends and ball joints now too? Any help is appreciated thank you.
Check the front rods for twist play and ball joints for up & down play.
I did mine last year, rides much better.
Do you want to put in manual locking hubs?
If so, there are lots of threads on here and also articles.
Folks have been going with Warn hubs.
Not expensive.
Yeah, I'd get it up in the air....... pull the wheels, and give it a shakedown. Could also be the needle bearings the axle stub shaft rides on have failed.
Thanks guys! I am going to check her out tomorrow. I have been researching the Warn hubs and they seem to get bad reviews -any other brands you suggest?
