The answer is simple. The bushings wore out, were not available by themselves, so peeps had to waltz on down to their local Ford dealer and buy a replacement.

Did'ja know that automakers are really in the partsbiz? Sales of parts account for between 75-80% of automakers true profit. If parts don't sell, no profit for automakers.

No other Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

Note: 1970/72 is not the same and there are THREE different types.

Lemme clarify - The upper pic with the blue-green firewall isn't my truck. I got the pic off of Google to illustrate the linkages. My pic with the simplified version on my 70 with a manual trans... the color is "New Lime".

If you have an auto trans, yes you need the kickdown linkage.
