"chrome clad" wheel woes

My '07 Super Cab has these "chrome clad" wheels. I don't really care about the looks but I DO care that they make a loud clicking sound as the wheels rotate and (I guess) there is enough flexing to make the sheet metal create popping sounds.

I think Ford sells replacement plastic covers.

Anyone know how to get the chrome cladding off? I looked at them and I don't see any tabs or screws or anything.

IIRC they are "glued" on. Epoxy I believe. Not really intended for them to come off but it can be done. You might actually be able to find oem 18" wheels on ebay for less.

Yes they are glued on. My father had a 2004 with them at one point in time. He hated them and that truck (Truck was definitely a lemon). He did some research on removing them and discovered that they are glued on as well. Prolly be a real pain in the *** to remove.

also after the PITA of removal, there would probably be residue, orsome remaining glue on the rims. i would look for used oem rims, or some cheap stealies ( if $ is the issue)
