Hello I'm new to the site and have a question I have a 2003 expedition and I can't get my rear speakers to work I have the rear controls that don't work ether I have power to the rear because my heater and ac controls work but I don't no what else to try any help is much appreciated
I don't know if the 03 is the same as the 01, but on the 01 if you see a a picture of a little headphone on the main audio display it is in dual mode, to put it in the single mode press the 3 & 5 buttons together.
The dual mode is for the center seat control to play something other than what is selected in the front, through the phone jack in the center concontrol.
You can also turn on and off the rear speakers from the center control bpy pressing the phone/speaker button.
Also make sure the fade control on the main audio is set properly so that thr rear is not faded to minimum.
Yea I have tried everything you have suggested but no luck the radio I have in my expy dosent have any head phones on the head unit will any ford radio work with the rear controls I don't think my radio is the original unit I think someone took it out of a older model ford and also my number 3 radio button don't work would that make a difference???

You don't need to press the 3 & 5 buttons. The phone/speaker button on the center seat control on mine will enable or disable the "Personal Audio System" in the disable position the rear speakers should be on and in "single play" mode connected to the same source as the front. But if yours is different or has been changed I probably can't help.
I looked in the 01 owners guide and there is fuse 31, labled "rear integrated control panel (audio), CD player" in the passenger compartment fuse panel.
On my 03 with a stock radio, there is a button on the top right labeled DSP. Using that button, I can change a setting that optimizes speaker output for Driver Seat, All Seats or Rear Seats. I toggle through the choices with the up/down next to the bass/treble button.
If you don't have a factory radio, you're gonna have a hard time getting help here because we don't know what you have. At that point, I'd go by a place that does audio, maybe a Best Buy, and see if they can help.
Ido have a stock radio but I don't think it's a expedition radio it has the mute button in the upper right corner and my number 3 button docent work on my radio so the question is does the stock radio have to be one that has rear controls built in it or will any stock ford run it I think my radio is from a f150 99 to 02 model and I press the rear head phone button on the center console and nothing happens none of the buttons work on the rear controls I have power there cause rear heat and ac controls work and aux lighter and everything is plugged in also I took it apart and looked so I'm stumped
Sounds like it's time to tear the dash apart and check the wiring. If something was swapped in, I'm sure there was some wire splicing done. Maybe something came apart or was never hooked up. Have they ever worked since you've owned the truck?
No they haven't I have had it since august and I have already took the dash apart everything is factory plugs. The reason I say it's no the original radio is it looks just like the one in my old 99 f150 and I thought from google a factory stereo from 2003 expedition I got a pic of a different looking radio
