okay folks, summer is coming (yuck !) and it will soon be rather warm out. Does anyone know of where I can purchase some small 12VDC electic fans ? I would like to place one on the dash or hang it from the inside of the cieling to blow right on my face. If I can cool off my face a bit, the rest of me can tolerate the warm weather a bit better. Any suggestions ? DF
Well, I know where I can get a whole truck load of them.
There is a guy at a local flea market that sells these things.
The mount with a slide-on and they have a *stay* or *oscillating* function .
Have you looked at the store here ?
I'll place a copy of this thread in the Aftermarket forum for you.
yo,
I've been through a few from Wally mart, K Mart, but the best one and till runnung is one like this I bought at a boat store (Boater's World): http://www.cybercity.ws/accessories.asp?sid=10
And this type works good in the bronco due to the Power Point location (for driver): http://www.cybercity.ws/accessories.asp?sid=9
This is usually @ Wal Mart (found it in Fishing/Camping section instead of auto section).
I have the pc fan too and planned to mount it in an overhd console; but I am now looking for the little nozzle ends used in commercial aircraft for personal cooling.
It must be cooler where you guys live, I just got through checking out the ac in my 84 F150 and I've already used it (driving through a dust storm at 95 deg with no ac sucks) and this weekend I'm charging the ac in the 94 Tbird and I'm adding a fan to the radiator in the F150. All of those years in the Army driving tactical vehicles in the desert with no ac has made me appreciate environmental control systems.

Your local heavy equipment store (like CAT dealer or another) has them. And there really durable, you just need to specify 12 volt as they sell 24 volt also.
I travel for work sometimes and love the Big Truck Stops along the Interstates. It just amazes me at all the stuff they have, and one entire section is devoted to 12V goodies - coffee pots, toaster ovens, and yes Fans, and just about anything else you could want to run off a cigarette lighter.
lol...first thing I usually rip out of a used rig I buy is the A/C. They really get in the way. Two, maybe three weeks a year might get hot enough for a fan.
It's so hot here that when you get in your truck you can't breath....I dunno how old folks make it during the summer...
You turn on the ac to get some cool air blowing then turn the fans on???
I also tinted my front windows to help make the inside alittle cooler, cause the leather burns my hide....
