Trans Temp

I have a 2000 V10 Excursion...I just installed GlowShift gauges...wondering what other V10 Excursion owners who have a ScanGauge or actual gague have for their trans temp...

I'm running a ScanGauge II and love it. My trans temp is usually around 145-150 in around town driving. I haven't really towed with it yet, so I don't know the number there. Outside temp has been anywhere from 65 to 15 lately.

I usually don't go over 200 degrees for the trans temp when pulling but its not that hot in my neck of the woods and I'm not pulling a big trailer. Keep it under 250 degrees and you will be ok. I think the tunes I have which lock up the converter quickly and keeps it locked helps to keep the temps down also.

I get up to around 165 F or so this time of the year. It could get up to 175 F. I haven't towed with the gauge yet so don't know what that'll be. Engine temp gets to 185F.

It's been in the 50's and 60's here. Today, light wind, about 63-65, it didn't even hit 140 on a drive home (25 miles, 80-90% freeway). Higest it has been actually is about 138-140. Wondering if all is OK...

Anywhere from 60-100°F over ambient is normal.

Ok...sounds like she just knows what she's doing to keep the tranny cool. Was afraid it was TOO cool (is there such a thing in the transmission world?).

OK...sounds like I'm not "too cold". Was afraid maybe my sending unit wasn't working right or similar.

Got my ScanGauge at Camping World for $170. I could have gotten it cheaper, but we were driving home after picking up our son from school and the wife said "why don't you just get it" as we were driving by Camping World in Wheat Ridge, CO. I couldn't argue with her.
