Heater doesn't seem to work, blower motor works and the heat **** works but the temp **** seems to be seized up, is there a place to buy a replacement cable? Lmc didn't have one. Also what's the stock thermostat temp? My truck had a 160 but I didn't know that till I replaced it with a 190, the temp gauge goes the the 2nd to last line before the H, is that normal? Any input is greatly appreciated
I have a few of the heater temp cables...if you disconnect it from the water valve under the hood does it work ?? If not..as I said I have a few...water valve may be frozen...see if it is or not...if it is I may have one...these are easy to find and plentiful...used on lots of different trucks into the 70's...
Plus if the cable is frose up? you should still be able to shut the valve on or off at the valve it's self unless the valve is also frose up? PS, ''Don't forse it!....hope this helps as Winter is comin on fasat..lol
T-stats is a gate if you will, when the temp reaches it's mark it opens and allows the coolant to pass through, and circulate through the system. It has nothing to do with the heater working or not.
You might want to pull the hoses off at the fire wall and power flush the heater core. I just bought one at Advance Auto for about $25.00 PN 399024 should you want to replace yours.
I have never run into a stuck cable on one of my trucks that couldn't be reclaimed with some cleaning and working back & fourth as many times as needed. You can shoot the ends with WD40, PB Blaster, soak in kerosene, get the crud off and it works again in most cases.
If the coolant is circulating you should get some results in the cab.
I know t-stat has nothing to do with heater, it was just a separate question, ill see what I can figure out today, the the heaters not a big deal as it's just a project truck, not my daily driver but would just like to get everything functioning
