Ok. Second time this has occured to me. Go out in the morning to start truck. WTS light normal. Wait additional 30 seconds, start truck. Everything seems normal.
Then truck dies. As though someone turned key off.
Restart attempt. No WTS light. No glow plug activation (engine turns over very fast compared to normal) No smoke. No attempt by engine to fire. Glow plug fuse 30 amp maxi under hood is blown.
First I attemped to simply replace fuse. Instantly blown again. Not sure what to do, so I replace GPR with spare one I have, replace fuse and truck seems to work fine. Continue to drive for next 6 days with no problems.
This morning. Exactly same situation. I have not checked anything yet. I jumped in spare vehicle and got my butt to work (already running late!)
The maxi fuse #22 also controls the fuel filter heater. Unplug the heater which is the second connection on drivers side of the fuel bowl then replace the fuse again and you should be good to go. Inside the filter is a ring style heater which comes loose and shorts out blowing the fuse. Many just leave it unplugged however replacements are available if you wish to do it.
