I've been working on the rug and interior panelling lately, but its gone to
-10 degrees making the PVC way too brittle. On hold til next spring. I did manage to weld up my tranny cover so I can upholster it and then finish rug. Hope to have steering column back in after Xmas.
Hey Tom,
I'm very interested to see how you do your interior. Nice truck & a lot of nice touches - you might have the only self manufactured bed I've seen on here. I've also got a 1950 F1 - just getting it back from paint - interior is next... Good luck up there - I have no idea how cold -10 degrees is but it sounds bad.
I used a 3 mm black PVC material bought from a sign shop. It is quite flexible when warm, and I formed the contour of the cab , behind the seat using a heat gun.
I have a 1990 powertrain, but want the truck to look stock, so I think I'll go with the finish of the PVC without upholstery. Mind you I change mymind every two weeks or so, LOL. I used black, nylon backed rug, which is very sensitive to heat, oops.
As for the seat, I had it done in dark grey vinyl, which goes fairly well with the black interior, and rug.
I will post some pics if I get into the garage today.
Tom,
Are you using the original seat? And what is the sheetmetal boxing against the back wall? Looks good! I like your stuff, especially the gauge stuff using the 90's gauges. I would like to use the original gauges but not sure if that will work out with the '95 donor engine/ tranny. I wanted to use a salvage yard shifter to keep it cheap, but those lokar units are nice looking! May have to splurge on that!
Hi Tom,
I like your seat too - Nice & creative & it looks great.
I was also curious what the structure was going behind your seat?
I couldn't figure out what to do with the interior so I just had it
"rhinolined" along with the bed.
