I'm looking at selling my 2008 Suburban LTZ and getting the 2008 Ford Expy Limited instead. The only reason I'm selling my Burb is because of the oil consumption issue, but I'm a little concerned because it sounds like the Expy has tranny issues. I was torn between the two when I purchased the GM, but I did it based on a friends advice who is a Master Mechanic and extremely biased towards GM.
I do pull a travel trailer (5200 lbs) so the tranny issue is a concern for me. I do like the fact the Expy has a 6-speed tranny and a better towing capacity, even if it is just slightly better.
Other than the tranny problem what other issues are you guys having with your 2008 Expy that I need to be concerned or aware? How would you go about checking if the tranny has been reflashed? Also what is the warranty on the power train and what exactly does it cover? The only I'm looking at has 35000 miles on it so the warranty is probably gone already.
I've been burned by my first American car purchase, so much for trying to help out the economy, and I just cannot afford to get myself into another issue with a bad product a company will not or cannot fix.
I have a friend that had an 08 Suburban. No longer has it because in was always in the shop for little stuff. Door handles coming off. Switches breaking.
