Parts alone would run $1000 I figure but would obviously last forever. Would be a difficult project but would be worth it. $3000 for them to build is out of the question..
Just wondering what others have run and where did you buy from??
What head castings do you have? Or do you have Edelbrocks?
I'm about to take on the same project pretty soon. I was thinking of building my own fenderwell exits using SS mandrel tubing from the same company you mentioned. Didn't know anyone made 2" primary fenderwells for a highboy! Great news for me. Thanks montana!
I've been out of the FTE loop for a couple of weeks. So wait a minute here, Montana, you've located fenderwell headers for highboys with FE's??? You are the man!!! I know we talked about it a little last month and you were under the impression they didn't exist. You must've found these recently. The big question is; has anyone purchased these yet? Or any products from this company? I'm really pumped, I've been trying to source these for like half a year now.
Part #9228 390 fenderwell exit. I looked at this company before and did not scroll down far enough.
I'm calling to check flange thickness and probably place order tomorrow.

Grinnergetter, pleeeeease keep us posted if you order a set. I really want to do some exhaust upgrades to my Yellow this winter and fenderwell headers would be the answer!!
I was off on the prices of the stainless headers. For them to build your Lookin at about $2000 not 3. Still alot.
I was on there site again and couldn't tell if the price for the 4 into 1 collector was for 1 or 2, a set. At $250 if it's a set the cost for a complete set looks more promising. I'm gonna call them tomorrow..
If I did build them myself I'm thinking a 2" tube would be fine but not too overkill with my moderate well built 428.
I spoke with Mad Dog this morning and he said he just put them on the website in the last few days. Flanges are 5/16. I ordered a set and he said approximately 2 weeks for delivery.
Only drawback I see is they are uncoated so I'm going to have to do something about that.

grinnergetter, may I ask which of your trucks you are using these on? I see at the bottom of your posts you list the "1979 f250 with 390 soon to have 1973 body". I'm guessing in that project??
Yep, that's the one. Hoping my engine will be done soon so I can figure out the perch situation that I have. My Dad has a 1930 Model A....nope he won't give it to me either.
I looked at Jet Hot and seems like powder coating that is polished. Is that the only difference?

Well good luck and keep us posted. You are my guinea pig. It's clear you know what you're doing (I've seen your project photos!!) so as soon as you give em the thumbs up I'm ordering a set.
Stupid question; are the frame rails wider apart on your 79 frame than on a highboy frame??
No, the front frame widths are all the same. It's at the other end where the highboys are narrower.
Over on the other FE forum there are quite a few people who have gone the JetHot route and almost everyone has been real happy with the quality, durability, and warranty work. If you get a set of new headers coated they are warrantied for life. It's a little more $$ but if I only have to do it once...
They also have a variety of colors. A plus to some.
