Allright, i'm in the market for a set of headers for my 390 but have run into a dollar issue. Only set i can find that is specifically designed for my application runs about $650 (1967 Thunderbird 390).
Looking at it a set of rear dump short tube headers would work great, but again I've only been able to find sets that are in excess of $500.
Anyone know of a set I may be able to come up with for $250 or less? If nothing else I'm buying a set of $110 dynomaxes and hacking them to no tomorrow, but i want to keep that as my last resort.
Try Doug Thorley Headers. I just bought a set for $380, not quite the $250 but they fit perfect in my 74 F-100 and they've got 3/8" flanges so they aren't suposed to warp as easy as the cheaper ones.
Try some of the classifieds on the Tbird forums maybe? Might score a used set there. $650 is a pretty steep number. They had better fit like a glove for that money. The only cheaper alternative I can think of is making a set yourself. Or if you know anyone that could help. I have a few buds that work at exhaust shops and do work like this on the side. Mostly hotrods and odd classics. They only charge around $350 for a custom made set. That's pretty cheap and they stay very, very busy.
