Can someone tell me why my transmission is waiting several seconds after being placed into drive or reverse before it actually slips into gear when first started in the morning and why it has a hard shift between 1st and 2nd than again between 2nd and 3rd and maybe why when it shifts into 2nd and 3rd gear it slips back out than back in?
Brought this up to my dealer, I have a 2011 FX4 SCab 5.0 that does the same...I also find that the tranny doesn't always transfer the motor's power to the wheels right away when I accelerate, gives the feeling as if you were to quickly release the clutch on a manual trans. Dealer says it's a computer issue that is being looked into, let me know if you find out more...
Some 2011 Mustang and F-150 vehicles built on or before 12/20/2010 may exhibit a 2-3 shift flare, 4-5 shift flare, harsh or delayed reverse engagement.....
Mine will go into reverse fine when it is cold but when I put it in drive and touch the gas there is nothing for a moment and then it goes in hard and seems to shift hard for a min or two. If I run it through all the gears before backing out it does not do it. It's as if it needs to build pressure before it will act right.
Shortly after I started this thread my transmission started shifting fine, for a while, than it started slamming into reverse and was suffering from a major slip-bump issue when starting off and coming to a stopping. So one more trip to the dealer where they replace the valve body in the trans and dissasymbled and lubed the drive line, that was three weeks ago and I have had no problems since. Why did it take four trips to the dealer before they got this right?
