You got to take the door panel off. The old handle will probably be riveted on so you will have to get that off. The new handle will probably come with bolts. Your gonna want to try to save the clips that keep the rod in.
I was just going to take the handle out of another door but would it be easier to just take the cylinder out of the old door and put it in the other one
X2 on just swap the handle not a whole door. Realignment can be a PITA. Remove the door panel and look, you might already have bolts. You would only see two nuts from inside the door on the back side of the handle.
If its rivets drill the out from under the handle, pop loose the connecting rod and replace it with your new handle. Do not break the plastic slip connector. While you are at it ck the tension springs on the new handle it self.
i change one on my 99 e250 last month, i bought a new one .i drill the rivets and pull out the old one, for the new one i bought stainless bolts and nut ,it take me about 30 min, its an easy job ,good luck.
Where did he say he wanted to change out the whole door? All I read is that he was considering taking the lock cylinder out of his donor truck along with the replacement handle, instead of just the handle.
EDIT: nevermind, when I read it a different way, I see what you guys were thinking. Had to "read between the lines"
