3-1-10 my aluminum cross flow was shipped from Summit. I wanted the extra cooling for those long summer trips with the boat and family in Baja and 110* days. Since installation I had a problem with a leak. I always assumed it was at the lower hose, since I had to splice the hose and add a 45* into the line. I have tried to change it several times, with the same result. Finally, after all this time, I got out the mirror and flashlight, only to find a leak where one of the tubes attaches to the tank, right above the hose.
I should of pursued it more from the beginning, but assumed the rad. good. Well, after speaking to Summit and being told 'oh well....almost two years....' I asked for a supervisor. The guy was extremely professional and said a replacement would be in the mail today. In that box I should return the defective one and they would examine it. Should it be abused in any way, my card would be charged. I know it is not abused. After 20 months they gave me free shipping both ways, and most likely a new rad. That is a company that stands behind their products!!
I have had the same experience with Summit.
They are very good at there business, and fast.
My brother is a gasket manufacturer and supplies them. He says his dealings are always very professional and timely.
Actually because of your post I may end up buying a rad for my '74.
I had the same thing happen not too long ago. I bought a spectra precision radiator for about $270 and it leaked. I called them after having it in the truck for about 3 months, and they sent a replacement and shipping paid for me to return the leaking radiator in the same box. Having to go through the labor of removing/reinstalling sucks but at least it didn't cost any extra money (other than maybe a gallon of coolant).
Thats why I stick with Summit.
I love the idea of the aluminum crossflow radiator over the extra core Modine. I have gone through two Modines since I have owned my truck. I do a lot of towing and still have overheating problems during the summer up here on the desert even with the 4-core Modines. I ordered a BeCool that was supposed to be an exact replacement last year. I couldn’t believe it when I pulled it out of the box. I set it alongside my old Modine and it looked like a tranny cooler next to the Modine. I sent a picture of it to BeCool and they agreed that it wasn’t the right radiator for my truck. They did offer to make me one to fit my truck if I would send my old one in for a mold FOR $1100.00 BUCKS. I said no thanks and sent the old one back. I got a full refund. (Except for the return shipping) The radiator you show fills the whole radiator space and would be perfect except for the outlets on the wrong side. I wonder why they don’t make one with the outlets in the same configuration as the Ford? I bet they would sell a lot more radiators to guys like us if they did.

You're not far from me. I would ck Summit racing online. I'll be they have one with the right hose fittings. There are many options. I use this size b/c I go to Baja quite a bit, camper, boat, ten times more crap than we'll ever need.... I had to open the opening a bit, and move one of the vertical supports for the rad. support, but with my 3400 cfm electric fans, it would cool an aircraft carrier. Ck the last edition of True Blue Trucks magazine for the article on how to do the fan upgrade on the cheap.
