88 ford f250hd 351w. when truck is cold (outside temp doesnt matter) it hard to start and wont idle. it will crank over and finally fire up but then die immediatly. i have to do this 3 or 4 times then i have to hold the rpms up to 2k for about 2 min for it to idle by its self. i was told before that it could be te ACT or the ECT. does that sound right? or is there some thing else to look for.
Could also be the Air temp sensor or the Water temp sensor. These two work together to determine how much fuel the engine needs for a cold start and while idling based on air temp and engine water temp .

Does the truck run good once it warms up?
ACT= Air Charge Temperature (also called Intake Air Temperature) sensor
ECT= Engine Coolant Temperature sensor
Your statement above is referring to the same things the OP started this thread with.
