Would like to see what people have done for multi-camera rear view setups (either bumper of the truck and rear of the trailer, rear of the trailer and trailer interior, or any combination therein).
I've seen the guy who integrated them into the factory nav head unit and while I am blown away I don't think it's in my price range!
I have not done this yet but have priced it all out. I would change my current stereo to an aftermarket in dash one with navigation. One camera would be on the bumber one mounted on the toolbox in the truck. When I put it in reverse the bumber cam would come on and I could see behind me and my ball hitch. By hitting one button on the display it would toggle to the toolbox one for lining up the goose ball. Also when driving I would be able to turn the camera on and with the same button toggle between them to check my trailer connections. It priced out very high, like $2200, but hey you gotta pay for that kind of ridiculoius ease of operation. Oh well the tennis ball guides will have to work for now.
You can do this a lot cheaper you just have to do more work and it will not be as slick as pushing button on head unit.
You can buy a video switch box with how ever many "line in" that you want then run the out wire to your screen but you will have to mount switch box where you can switch it from drivers seat also will need to run a separate video wire for each camera.
I don't have anything yet. My initial thoughts were to do it along the lines you suggested, just trying to see if anyone has a decent setup they pieced together.
