Thank you so much for the write up, it would have taken me 12 hours to type it. I will be trying it this weekend. But I may have other issues.I checked the temps this morning, before I started the truck, oil 75 coolant 45. Outside temp around 45. Started truck began driving keeping an eye on temps, always stayed 30 deg between the two.Until up to temp then while driving around town coolant was190, oil 230, 40 deg diff. On highway full throttle up hill coolant 200 oil 240 also 40 deg diff. So because of 30 deg difference when cold could the difference between both temps when hot is a difference of 10 deg? Kind of makes sense to me??? Maybe??? Hoping. All temps were within a degree or two while testing.
The confusing part being that I changed the oil temp sensor when I changed the oil cooler. Does anyone know of any wiring problems, or connector corrosion problems, that might be causing false readings with oil temp sensor?
I did replace the sensor. So do you think it could be a corrosion problem somewhere causing too much resistance and giving a false reading?
I have never seen the genisis code reader. Need to get something like the ScanGaugeII so you know where you are or you could be changing a lot of stuff and there is nothing wrong.
pop
Yes a wire problem or connection and one more possibility is the EOT sensors works off a V-ref 5 volt signal
can you check with that scanner your V-ref signal should be 5 volts I know my truck shows 4.98volts so it needs to be very close to 5 volt
I hope it is something as easy and or cheap as that for you, mine are still 30* off and start at the same temp. Is there any other option than the bpd aftermarket cooler? I bet I'll need one soon but don't have the cash for that one. Can you take the old one off and soak it or have it boiled like a clogged radiator? At least for a temporary fix til I save some money?

Just flush cooling system good and throw on a coolant filter and go back with stock new OEM Oil Cooler
parts guy ed has em for like 220.00 or threw tousley ford
But in the meantime you could try and flush it backflush right at the oil cooler
Read thru this thread lots of Great Ideas to try some folks have really closed there spread its a long thread but worth the read if its not in the budget right now to change coolers out
I am confused why a coolant filter will lower oil temps. Is the oil cooler cooled by the engine coolant system?? I put a few transmision coolers on cars, and I thought an oil cooler was basically the same concept.
If there is another thread pertaining to this, I would appreciate a link!
(I m on a trip from WA to MI. I bought a scanguage2 and have been watching the temps constantly. My coolant pretty much stays at 188/190. Never over 190. The oil temp got as much as 16 deg difference at 72 mph. Drops to 10 deg or less at 66 mph. The highest I ve seen the oil temp was 206.)
Is the scan gauge something you leave hooked up all the time? And does it moniter both the engine oil temp and coolant temp? Can it measure the FICM voltage and fuel preasure? Sorry for all the questions.
