Hard starting

F150 4.6 its been starting just fine until yesterday. It sounded like the battery was weak. So I replaced it with no change. Now I'm thinking the startor.
Any thoughts?

slow cranking ? Yes normally battery or worn starter.... or bad battery cables, corroded ground cable, etc.

Yes exactly. slow cranking. I cleaned the cables. The starter is not making any abnormal noise just sounds like its laboring

Well starter is dead! All I'm getting is click-click-click nothing.... And my truck is sitting in the parking lot at work. This should be fun.

Don't assume that the starter is the problem. Use a voltmeter to verify that the starter is getting the needed voltage. The heavy cable from battery to starter should of course have 12 volts DC at the starter. There is a much smaller wire that comes front the starter solenoid that has voltage applied when the key is in the start position. No voltage there otherwise. Good luck!

Got the new starter put on and it starts better then it ever did before.

But when I had the starter off I found a problem.....broken manifold bolt! My next project.
