well ; it started flashing this mourning. out of the blue.
driving along and bingo flashing away .wtf.
it seems to be shifting fine.
but that light is flashing for some reason
i don't have a code reader. can someone put up a link as to what it even looks like the auto store has an obd2 but from what i read that won't work
i love my truck ,but the trans problem is wereing me down
jerzy crew cab ,4x4, turbo, vegoil kit, centurion package.

14 = E4OD Transmission diesel RPM sensor
23 = Throttle sensor out of range or throttle set too high
63 = Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) signal too low
62 = E4OD excessive converter clutch slippage
(this can happen as a result of failed/improper set TPS.i know personally lol.)
start by testing your TPS.do you know how to do this?
im not sure what code 14 means.
HO2S sensor not reading? / Was lean at WOT for 3 seconds or more?
(whatever it is,it's probably just a result of a failed/incorrectly set tps.like code 62 is.....lets hope anyway.)
is the tach reading properly? you got a code for that too.but id investigate one thing at a time.starting with the TPS (also called FIPL.but parts stores do not list it as such.)
you recently had this trans replaced because your last one turned out to be bad,after finding out she couldn't hold a front pump seal.
when you replaced this trans.did you install a converter with it? new or used? or did you reuse your old one?
(don't sweat it for now though.focus on the TPS testing/adjustment.)
and what is the engines idle set at?

warm idle should be set @ 650-700 RPM.
WOT = Wide Open Throttle (with the engine off,this is how the codes are read for KOEO = Key On,Engine Off.)
so tomorrow,your first test will be;
connect volt meter to center pin of the TPS plug (located on the side of the ip.it has 3 wires.) and the other probe of the meter to ground.with the engine off (also up to temp which is 195-237 degrees aka after running the truck down the road for 20 good minutes for good measure,or just use your stock gauge and get it up to wherever it is normally once warm - important)
measure the voltage (with the TPS plug still connected - you can sneak your probe in the center wire of the plug) and list this voltage measurement please.
of course the idle needs to be correct too,or it will frig up the TPS signal.

yeah,the best thing to do,would be to take it to your rebuilder and inform him your getting a TPS code,and let him take care of it.this way you wont void your warranty.
also,if he's good,he'll set it properly via a spacer @ WOT and use resistance to fine tune.
the failed or improperly adjusted TPS,could have (and most likely did) contribute to your last E40D failure (particularly when getting code 62 at the same time.the converter slips too much,comes apart,spreads her guts through the trans,that's all she wrote.)
this is why i tell everyone to stop driving their E40D's when they see the OD light flashing.safety mode is real slick.can save ya,and point ya in the right direction.but the increased line pressure and just a couple gears should just be enough to get one home to fix their trans only.
i would consider your truck broke down for now until you can fix it. it's really not a big deal to fix.what your trans is doing right now is a big deal though.
no need to stress.should be a simple repair/adjustment or two.

I have had a lot of problems with my E4od. You should search my threads and read them. The rpm sensor can go bad and cause the light to blink. The speed sensor is in the rear end and will cost about 15-20 bucks and can also cause it to blink. I have even been told that the shift selector on the transmission will cause it to blink. A short in the wiring harness to any of these sensors can cause the light to blink. Ford out did themselves with these transmissions and wired them into everything, unfortunately. Mine still blinks from time to time but only when I back up a steep hill or my driveway. I decided it was a short. I just turn the truck off and the light goes off. It drove me crazy cause I didn't back up my drive often so it took me a while to figure out why it would only blink once and while and every time it did I would take my truck with the 2nd new trans back to the shop and the guys never found anything wrong with it. They got tired of seeing me. If yours is under warranty take it back. It's still there problem and if you start working on it they can say you messed it up. You have a sensor saying its messed up so I would say its messed up its there problem. Do not drive it no more than possible with the light flashing. Good luck.

hopefully your issue is resolved,being just an incorrect idle speed,and or failed TPS.

the damm light started blinking again, it started this time, going up a hill
i was on it,pretty good, boost around 8-9------blink----blink---blink
although it is blinking, it shifts normal,
here is my question, how is that possible???
is the tps out of range ---but close
the speedo seems to work --needle moving
the tack is working--needle working
its shifting normal through all the gears
but blinking

ok check the codes again.
for a guess,i would say,yes.the TPS is still out of adjustment by your description.
make sure to inform the guy who reads the codes,that on the diesels you need to hold WOT (when KOEO of course.) this will make sure you only get code 23 in the event of a real problem (well hopefully lol.but at least it won't toss a false 23.)
and like PLC says,you are getting the tach sensor code too remember (code 14.) check the wires to that.
what voltages is the TPS set at now?
when you put the fresh trans in (or had it installed?) did you/the installer make sure to clean and grease all the plugs?
you really should invest in a code reader,like all E40D owners should have.they're pretty cheap these days.
(just remember codes only help point you in the right direction,with where to test first.always test before replacing parts.)
example of required EEC-IV reader:
http://www.amazon.com/Equus-3145-For.../dp/B000EW0KHW
they are very easy to use.just count the beeps/flashes.not sure if that one beeps etc.the one i have beeps with the flashes which is handy.
