Unhappy More trans issues again!

Well I thought I had my tranny fixed but guess not, here is my issue, truck is 93 F250 7.3 n/a with E40D trans 4x4.
I was having the dreaded bliking overdrive light for a while, I did buy a obd1 tester and got it figured out. It said problem was code 23, throttle position sensor so I replaced it with one from Autozone, unhooked batteries for half hour or so to reset and everything fine for a while, well the other day light started blinking again, hooked tester back up and get the same code 23 and this time also code 62, converter clutch failure.
Question is this, I don't drive my truck too much anymore due to having to travel a ways to work everyday so I put about 100 miles on it since the tps was changed could it be bad or when I bought it it was bad or are these adjustable?
I will replace it if I need to but maybe they are adjustable.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks Rob

not trying to steal this thread but im having the same issue. just bought the truck and it just seemed like the tranny was shifting to soon, so i checked the fipl and it was reading 0.80volts. i readjusted and have it set on 1.1volts like its supposed to be. well i drove the truck and the od light starts blinking. its not shifting hard and the shifts are at about the right rpms that i would like. any ideas?

Tate have the codes read at azone or other AP store...... What color is the FIPL on your truck........

DIESEL FIPL SENSOR INFO
DATE 1992
REASON
Early Black FIPL has High Failure Rate
RECOMMENDATION
Always replace the black colored early FIPL or any colored FIPL having 60 thousand or more miles with the late gray colored FIPL.
PART NUMBER

No I have not adjusted anything, by looking at it I thought it was just plug and play.
How do you adjust it?

plc7.3 the fipl is grey. i just bought the truck two days ago and had no probs with the light. it just acted like it was shifting way to early so i checked the voltage on the fipl and in the idle position it was reading 0.80volts so i moved it until i got 1.10 volts. i test drove it and it was shifting like i felt it should shift. i drove it an hour later for about an hour (round trip) and right before i pulled into the drive it started blinking.

sorry bigblackf250 im not trying to hyjack your thread, but your having the same probs as me. and if anybody can steer you in the right direction plc7.3 can. as from what i have gathered if the fipl is not adjusted correctly it can cause it to shift hard with other probs as well. mine doesnt shift hard at all its just the od light blinks when you start it.

No problem with the hyjack, were all in this together, same problem as me but I am getting the hard shifts, I am sure PLC7.3 will lead us in the right direction and hopefully I can get this adjusted and back on the road because it is shifting so hard now I am afraid to drive it much.

I've had this happen to me, but only when it rains. No problems when dry. I figure something is getting wet that shouldn't and is shorting and causing the blinking light and or rough shift. See if you can find an electrical connection that is getting wet. Good luck, I still havn't found mine.

bigblackf250 what i did with mine and from what ive gathered is to take a volt meter that reads volts and put the pos wire to the middle wire on the fipl sensor and the neg to a good ground. with the key on and the engine not running you should read from about 1.06 to around 1.10 volts at the idle position. ifn it dosnt read around that then loosen the two hex screws that holds the sensor to the ip and rotate it until you achieve those specs and you should be ok. if im wrong im sure someone will correct me soon lol.

Thanks for the info Tate, I will give it a try this weekend, one more question though, once you get it to read correctly do you unhook your battery cables again to reset computer?
Thanks

Will that 1.06 to 1.10 give you an average shift and if you want the gears to hold longer or the converter to take longer to lockup do you adjust higher or lower?

i had mine set at 1.10 the first time i adjusted it and you could tell the difference in the way it shifted, it ran the gears out longer. i went back and adjusted it again at 1.08 and i prefer it at that setting

anytime you check an idi for codes the throttle must be held wide open before and during the test or it will always set a hard fault code 23
if you had 23-10-11 the first code is a hard fault , the second code 10 is a seperator code letting you know all hard fault codes have been displayed and any codes after the 10 are memory codes
if you had a 23-10-62 this means it has a hard fault fipl code 10 memory 62 means excessive torque converter clutch slippage
the post on shift problems when it rains usually means the transmission range sensor is bad because moisture is entering it itis mounted on the side of the trans
looking at the fipl from the drivers side of the vehicle , rotate it clockwise to lower the voltage
counter clockwise to raise it
the method of setting the fipl with a voltmeter is not the preferred method its a shade tree method that has some positive results but i have seen many trucks that it will not adjust that way
the correct way requires a scan tool with an audible tone to adjust the fipl
