Superduty Intercooler?

So a good 2000 SD intercooler just popped up on craigslist for $150. Is that a good price? Also what has to be done for that to work in my truck?

Seems fair to me. I would ask about it being pressure tested. Here is a good link to an install. There are a few different routes to take, but this will give you an idea of what all is involved.

Also if you can wait for a couple of weeks there will be complete kits, minus the cooler, that will be available. This will eliminate the need to have to track down an early 99 spider pipe and welding.

Yes they are needed. You either have to fab up your own or buy a kit made for the OBS

Ya I check it all the time waiting for it to be available. I have zero welding skills so that's the route I'm going. Plus it's not to expensive I think.

I meant for the kit haha I figured you'd need the tubes if no kit! I have a welder and plasma cutter and am comfortable using both of them to say the least lol Im just trying to find a good writeup of how to make the Y pipe added to the factory one. I have time and tools but moneys tight so if I can I'd rather build everything.

Also this is JUST air moving through these tubes... has anyone ever used flex pipe in spots or even a rubber hose? Not trying to say I'm gonna hack it together but it was just a thought if that could also be done?

Banks sells a "Spyder" type of thing specificly for the 7.3 it looks easily copied if you can weld. thats the way i was leaning when i finally do my 6.0 cooler install. e99 spyder isnt required to install an IC on our trucks. ive had my 6.0 cooler for a year now. should probably get goin on it...

Is there a way to modify the stock Y? Yould have to cut it in half or something right? So that you can still have the hookup on the input side and just weld to them? I'll have to look at it more in person but some how you have to stop the flow from going right into the turbo still.

If you haven't done so, take a close look at the link in the second post in this thread it's one of the best I've ever seen on installing an intercooler.

Here it is again just click on and read, there are also very good pictures. 6.0L intercooler install in '92-'96 body
