have you changed the transmission fluid? have you taken it out onto the hwy and really driven it good and hard for a bit. I would run some Delo 15w40 diesal grade oil for the first 3000miles to really clean up the inside of the motor. then move over to a 10w40 or 10w30.
the cat converter may also be partially clogged, unhooking the Y pipe and driving around briefly to see if it peps up a bit.
it is not the stock carb. i am goin to yank off the converter either tonight or the next mighty cold in oklahoma today. also im goin to barrow my buddy compression checking apperatisiser. if all is good there i guess ill have to spring for a new carb any ideas on what i should get? im thinking edlebrock 600
Edelbrocks are good carbs for ease of use. Though I have a Holley 650 on my 390. I chose Holley for the tunablility, though they are a bot more sensitive to atmospheric conditions, such as temperature, and barometric pressure.
ease of use is what i am lookin for. im so tired of messing with this p.o.s holley i just got done changeing the coil and that helped but it still doesnt seem to have all the power that it should. im werkin all night so i will check the compression tomarrow morning before i go to werk again. the converter is already gone so i know that that is not the issue
well i got my compression check and everything is good 110 or better. i also just baught an edlebrock 600 carb with manual choke. any pointers or tips to hook this 300 dollar bill up and get to slinging some mud
