I bought a 2006 F350 about two months ago, and I have a 3 year 36 thousand mile warantee on it through Forf ESP. I am wondering if anyone knows what mods i can do and still have the factory honor the warantee.. I want to put a 2 1/2" leveling kit, and put a 5" CAT back on it and gut the CAT. All and any input appreciated!
It is not so much what you can and cant do. It is more of what you are willing to put on or take off when ever you need to go to the dealer.
I had heard that, but i was told a tuner doesnt leave a footprint, but a chip will, im fine with taking off and putting on, but i dont want them to plug my truck in then tell me to take a hike.. anything on that??
Both a tuner and a chip leave evidence that they were there. Some chip/tuner manufacturers tell you that theirs won't leave any evidence. Either they don't know or they are lying. I know the software and I KNOW that it can detect when the engine makes more power.

One of the easiest things to take on and off is a tuner and yet the dealership can still determine if one is being used or not. It just depends on how much effort they put forth and if they want to call you out on it. Given the economic climate such as it is, I wouldn't take the chance, but I am very much risk adverse the next person may not be.
My op. on mods is if I put something on the truck that screws something up then I will man up and pay for it. My dealer, luckily, has been fare with me. It has no problems with such items as coolant and p.s. filters. Start adding power or a/m filters and intakes and they're not so friendly. I didn't state the highlighted comment to start a debate on dealers. You should do your homework and know the risks of add on items.
IMHO I wouldn't mod it other than gauges, and things to make it more reliable ie coolant filter or easier to work on, ie fumoto valve, or updated parts, then drive it hard until the warranty is up then throw whatever you want on it. i took my cat off when it was still under warranty even though the local dealer told me they can deny warranty work on the motor for the cat missing. ( some about about turbo back pressure) and i planned on replacing it if i ever needed work done, never thought about the stc fitting going out on my way to work and needing to drive it straight to the dealer for service. luckily they never looked. btw be warned with the leveling kit, I put the 2.5 on mine now i regret it when im pulling my 35ft TT, as it squats too much in the rear because of the leveling kit, guess you can't have it both ways, but i guess airbags would be my best bet, but my dad keep advising me not to get bags, and if you do get the leveling kit you will need longer struts in the front, not expensive but just be aware
