Ok, I know this question has more than likely been answered quite a few times so sorry if I overlooked it.
I have a '95 f350 I am finally getting around to ordering performance parts for. I just installed a S&B CAI and that is the only mod thus far my exhaust and gauges are on their way.
Next I'm am getting a chip or tuner but I am not sure which one will be more beneficial. I have been told the tuner will give me more spongy shifts and that the chip all the power is right there right away, is this true? I see benefits in both but for the age of my truck I want a more experienced answer that I on my own can not come up with.
Also, I see chips advertised as 6 postion 4 bank, what does the 4 bank mean?
Thank-you for your help all is apprieciated as well as any advice of any kind.
The only benefit a hand held tuner has is that there is a built in scan tool..... which may or may not work on your 95.
To me it's a no brainer. Get the chip. Not only will you get more bang for the buck, but the chip programming can be upgraded and adjusted to support your other mods as you add them.
Don't worry about the 4 bank deal. Nobody has offered a single bank chip in 10 years..... they are all 4 bank.

Thanks, I have been leaning towards a chip more anyway plus I like the look of nice manual guages. LOL.
What is a bank anyway, that is the part that I have been curious about?
Either one is fine as long as you have custom tunes. Most people opt to go with the chip because you can change tunes on the fly.
We offer a couple different chips(F5 and F6), and our Infinity programmer. All of which will hold our custom tunes. You can check out all of our tuning options HERE.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
