4.9 dipstick problems?

it kinda sounds weird but the other day i gave my 4.9 an oil change and i also changed the oil pan gasket when that was done pored 5qts in (what the manual said) started it up no leaks drove it around to let the oil warm up and when i checked the dip stick it read 1 qt low checked it again today its exactly on the one qt low line (there is still a slight oil leak). this is the first oil change i have done to it since i got the truck and it was always in the safe zone before so am i supposed to have 6qts in it or is the dipstick wrong. i would appreciate any help

Welcome to the forum

Six quarts, with a filter change, is all I have ever known for a 300/4.9.

Yep, if you changed the filter, you need to put in another quart.
So, 1 more in and you should be good to go.
