If you went to a JY you'd more than likely find a 93-94 idi with factory turbo somewhere (maybe). If it hasn't been picked apart then you be good to go.
there is a 7.3L IDI factory ats 093 at a junkyard about 10 miles from me in a slantnose f250. he will only sell the truck as a hole though since it runs.
I also swapped out a NA IDI with 190k mi on it and bolted up my Sidewinder to it, 35 thousand miles later now and she purrs. Just dont get greedy and go turning up your boost. keep it around 10 and you should be fine. If you want to crank up the boost do some reading about stronger head bolts and turning up fuel and other related issues. Also get at least a pyrometer so you can monitor EGT's with any turbo install.
I agree, get gauges and keep it in moderation...although, I recently plugged the turbo on the market place and it hit 15 just about every time I drove it, probably only about 1000 miles but I had to back out off throttle on freeway hills just so I didn't pass 15psi. idk how long it would have held up but for the time being it was just fine. Gauges are a bit part of getting performace out of these, EGTs is most important IMO
