I really hate to do this but I've looked thru several previous posts and have not found anything useful, so I have to post my specific problem. I seem to have a lack of power lately. Just driving around empty it seems to not have any power until I get to above half throttle. Less than that it just seems to make noise. I tried pulling a trailer this past weekend that weighed around 2500 lbs and the truck didn't pull it as well as it used to pull my 5000 lb enclosed car hauler. I'm thinking something is slowly failing. I have replaced my fuel and air filter. I checked my fuel pressure--85psi. I even checked for dragging brakes too. When I was pulling the trailer I was listening to the turbo and injectors. The turbo didn't seem to spool until about half to three quarter throttle, and the injectors were REALLY loud! Just before this trip I hooked up my scanner and found no codes. I ran all the self tests and came up with injector #8 contribution test failed, as well as checked the rotational velocity with various numbers at idle, but all went to 0. I also checked the IPR duty cycle (11% and (I forgot to check ))and ICP pressure (460-2700). My boost pressure was upwards of 16 psi.
I'm thinking a set of injectors, but I want some input from people smarter than I am.
Thanks guys,
Aaron
My truck is behaving in a similar way. My boost is 16-20 at wot. I have read some posts that say that's ok for stock. My buddy is chipped and gets about 25-28 at wot.
I haven't checked my fuel pressure. Last weekend I preemptively changed the fuel pump after the truck died on me while going about 35mph. My filters are recently changed. Not throwing any codes it just seems like it's starved for fuel.
I am thinking mine is not a fuel pressure issue but more of a fuel flow issue. I suppose I could put a gauge on the fuel bowl and measure pressure while driving. I am thinking that if the pressure dips below 50 while driving that may indicate a restriction someplace.
Other than the filters in the tank and the filter in the bowl are there any other places that get gunked up? I know the tank filters are fixed by the hutch mod just want to rule stuff out before I go preemptively changing things again.
