source for radius arm (s)

I went to change my radius arm bushings this weekend & discovered that the stud that the bushing goes around has rusted down to a very weak looking mess. As I thought the usual suspects (LMC, NPD & Dennis Carpenter) don't have new ones... any contacts for people that might have some good used ones ?

Thanks

Jer

Your best source is a wrecking yard.

Agreed, but here in Northern Ontario where salt is used on the roads my local wrecking yards will probably have the same condition ones as I have, hoping for some contacts with wrecking yards from better climates (southern states for example)...

What truck? 2wd or 4wd?

I've got a few 2wd ones & my prices are typically WAY better than a wrecking yard. Find a price for them at a yard them PM me & I should be able to beat it. Plus all my parts are So. Calif. trucks & way rust free!

Darn ! I just ordered some used ones yesterday before you posted, but they are from California at least :-) for a 79 rwd 1/2 ton.

Next question, anyone know the dimensions for the bolt that holds the radius arm to the I-beam (also the coil spring mount bolt)... that is one bolt that I'm sure I will have to use the red wrench on, want to have replacements ready !

50 bucks plus 33 shipping (to Michigan) 25 bucks each was okay with me & the shipping didn't surprise me as they are kinda clumsy things to ship I suppose...

go idea TSC would be a good source - do you recall the size of bolt that was needed ? My shop is an hour away from any store that would sell this kind of bolt, would like to figure it out before I tear it apart !

$50 is a good deal. Pretty much what I would have charged.

On the 2wd stamped radius arms I cut the welds out and replaced the stud with a bolt with the head cut off. The stock stud is 7/8 and out at the end it turns down to 3/4 for the thread, but I just replaced it with a 7/8 bolt. I did this on my 72 F100 (it had the cast arms), I changed to disc brakes from a 77 with stamped arms, they had the same problem.

cutting out the studs on the radius arms was my plan B... although I can weld basic stuff I usually steer away from things that are safety related like suspensions :-) appreciate the info. though.

The bolt that holds the radius arm to the I beam (and acts as the coil spring mount) appears to be a 3/4" bolt, 7" long, at least that what my quality plastic vernier says... an 1 1/8 wrench fits on the bolt head snugly which indicates a 3/4 bolt as well - I will know for sure when I get er' apart I suppose...

Hi I'm new to this forum. Google brought me here while I was searching for a radius arm for my 69 Econoline. I was told the f-100/ 150 two wheel drive from the 60's all the way through 78 are the same. Is that true? and if so, does anybody know where I may find some. The drivers side on mine broke. Thanks
